Today we were delighted to be part of a Guinness World Record river clean of the Taff, along with another 1323 participants !! Thank you so much to @katestrong01 for the amazing opportunity to be part of something this big! We did a lot of reflection during the day, and will continue our work around nature based flood defences. 🦦🦦🦦 Heddiw, roeddem yn falch o lanhau’r afon taf gan fod yn rhan o sefydlu record y Byd Guinness, ynghyd â 1323 o bobl eraill!! Diolch yn fawr i @katestrong01 am y cyfle anhygoel i fod yn rhan o rywbeth mor fawr! 🦡 Stand for Nature Youth Manifesto 🦡

On Wednesday YCA was invited to the Wildlife Trusts' launch of the Stand for Nature youth manifesto ahead of COP16.

Their manifesto calls for action from politicians in Wales to secure our future, biodiversity and climate. Seeing a project that has brought passionate young people from all across Wales together, fighting for the same change was so inspiring.

We also heard speeches about the project, this included from one of our wonderful members, Liliana and Deputy First Minister/ Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change, Huw Irranca-Davies.

Going forward into next week, we're all hoping that during COP16 we'll see some real commitments and actions to safeguard the future of our planet, both here in Wales and across the World 🌍

On Wednesday YCA was invited to the Wildlife Trusts' launch of the Stand for Nature youth manifesto ahead of COP16.

Their manifesto calls for action from politicians in Wales to secure our future, biodiversity and climate. Seeing a project that has brought passionate young people from all across Wales together, fighting for the same change was so inspiring.

On Sunday the Youth Climate ambassadors and the Youth peace ambassadors collaborated to organise a sustainable fashion show and clothes swap! Our clothes swap was very successful, and effectively gave life to old pieces of clothing that would of otherwise been put to waste. Thank you to everyone who came along, the swap wouldn’t have been the same with out you 💗

On Tuesday, I had the privilege of speaking at an event; Climate Conversation, hosted by the Bengal Dragons Foundation at the Senedd.

The event gave rise to an invigorating and engaging discussion about the challenges of climate change in the South Asian community and how to address these issues by exploring potential strategies. I was able to speak on the importance of climate education in raising awareness for environmental issues and the crucial role that young people will play in paving the way for a sustainable future.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to have represented YCA and been a part of such a distinguished panel. The event was highly motivating and made it clear that the importance of climate action is becoming increasingly recognised across diverse communities.

Let’s continue this conversation and move towards a greener and more sustainable future 🌱

Two weeks ago, I had the amazing opportunity to take part in a panel discussion for our.earth.week hosted by the fantastic @radioplatfform. I was joined by these remarkable panelists who had fantastic insights on youth engagement and how to tackle environmental issues. The event raised awareness on the importance of making environmental topics accessible for young people.
From the panel discussion, it is clear that it is crucial to overcome challenges in public engagement in order to reach a wider audience that will support our cause.

This week I went to @thewildlifetrusts Youth Summit, where young people from across Wales came to share their passion for the natural world and learn more about environmental issues through each other.

This experience was exhilarating - as you got the chance to have climate conversations with like-minded young people, who shared that drive to protect the planet.

I also had the pleasure to meet @lizziedalywild, who I spoke with about the difficulty of trying to reach those outside the climate movement and getting them to support your cause - and in our case - sign our petition.

For me, sometimes climate activism can feel like you're shouting into an abyss, with no one listening. However, meeting people like Lizzy Daly and everyone at the Youth Summit, gave me hope that people are listening and action is occurring.

So if you are listening, please add your name to our petition - this simple act could make all the difference to our cause 💚
